A grizzled human cop and an interdimensional knight from a world of swords forced to work together sounds like a buddy cop setup you've seen before. The show's actual genius is watching them genuinely teach each other how to survive in a city where the rules keep changing depending on which world you're from. Matoba and Tirana's dynamic works because they're not opposites for contrast, they're opposites because one operates on logic and the other on honor, and the show knows exactly how to make that friction matter.

Fifteen years ago, a hyperspace gate opened over the Pacific Ocean, linking Earth to Reto Semaani, a strange world where fairies and demons live. San Teresa City now holds over two million immigrants from both worlds and is hailed as a city of dreams, yet drugs, prostitution and weapon trafficking thrive in its shadows. Detective Kei Matoba, a skilled cop in the San Teresa police, is paired with Tirana, a novice knight from the other world. The two differ in gender, personality and world of origin, and they clash constantly. As they chase a common enemy, a strange trust slowly grows between them in this buddy police action story blending fantasy and sci-fi.
