The stakes flip overnight when alien abduction stops being a threat to the world and becomes personal. Suddenly the kids aren't just fighting to protect dinosaurs from bad guys anymore. They're fighting because their parents are gone, and the only people who can help them are the enemies they've been destroying for an entire season. The Alpha Gang becomes family because it has to. That's the hard shift Season 2 makes: from "save the dinosaurs" to "save each other, and the dinosaurs come along because they're already yours."

The D-Team, Max, Rex and Zoe, are still adjusting to life without their dinosaur partners when a time-travel gate opens and pulls them back into action. The Alpha Gang and the Ancients return as well. Gunenco, one of the Zanjark Space Aliens, kidnaps the parents while they are talking, and this pushes the D-Team and the Alpha Gang to team up against the Zanjark, who are after the Cosmos Stones. The kids must reunite with their dinosaur friends and help put the flow of time right again. Seth later comes back, this time siding with the Zanjark, while Jark, the Zanjark leader, is the one who supplies the dinosaur cards. This second season is a sci-fi action adventure.
