Doraemon movies work because they let you believe a gadget can solve anything, then watch the actual problem turn out to be something a gadget never could. The robot kingdom doesn't need saving from a villain, it needs saving from itself, from the choice to strip away what makes being alive worth anything. This is a show that trusts kids to understand that the scariest thing isn't an empress with a plan; it's a world that has decided feeling is optional.

Doraemon and his friends use the time machine to reach another world, one where humans and robots share their lives. Soon after arriving, they learn that the Empress of the Robot Kingdom has been seizing robots and stripping away their emotions. As tensions rise, the group resolves to stand against the Empress and put an end to her scheme. The film is a fantasy adventure with plenty of comedy.
