The mall fight is the only time Dragon Ball Z remembers it lives in a world with actual people in it. Three Saiyans tearing through a shopping center while civilians scatter is the franchise at its most visually chaotic, and Android 13's absorption sequence actually earns its final form instead of just happening. This movie understands that DBZ movies work best when they forget to take themselves seriously.

Three of Dr. Gero's androids, numbers 13, 14 and 15, are brought online by the computers in his laboratory and head straight for the shopping mall where Goku happens to be. The battle begins immediately. Goku, joined by Trunks and Vegeta, fights to contain the threat, and the warriors manage to take down two of the machines. But Android 13 is not finished. It absorbs the inner computers of its fallen companions and becomes a being stronger than the original three were on their own. Stopping it now falls to Goku. The film is an action-heavy science fiction adventure built around an escalating threat and one decisive fight.
