Kazuki is everything Shinji isn't: he actually wants to be there, he makes decisions, he doesn't collapse under pressure. The show knows it's riffing on Evangelion's formula and swaps the existential dread for genuine fun, which means you get mecha action that lands without requiring therapy after. Harem comedy that doesn't feel like an obligation, parallel worlds that exist as an excuse for more girls and more robots, a protagonist who grows into his role instead of running from it.

Kazuki Yotsuga is an ordinary high school nerd, though not a bright one. He runs a website devoted to visions that only he can see, visions of robots fighting each other in battle after battle. One day he finds himself sent to a parallel world where those visions are real. There he signs on with a company that stands against RaRa, a scheming group bent on conquering the world. The result is a sci-fi mecha action story played for comedy.
