SYNOPSIS
Confucius arrives in Lu during the turbulent Spring and Autumn period, a man shaped by loss and driven by an unshakeable vision of moral governance. Orphaned young and raised by his devoted mother, he builds himself through discipline and study, eventually earning the trust of Lu's nobility as an educator and advisor. When he rises to political power in his prime, he believes he finally has the means to reshape society according to his ideals: justice, propriety, and the cultivation of virtue in both ruler and subject. For a brief moment, his philosophy bears fruit. Lu flourishes under his guidance, and the promise of lasting reform seems within reach. But the seductive corruption of court politics gradually poisons his achievements. Disillusionment sets in as he watches his principles crumble against the weight of ambition and self-interest. Unable to accept this compromise, Confucius abandons his position and embarks on a solitary journey across hostile territories, becoming an itinerant sage who offers wisdom to anyone willing to listen. This is the story of a man caught between idealism and reality, searching for redemption through teaching rather than power.
