Anime Like El Hazard: The Magnificent World
Makoto gets dropped into a fantasy world and immediately stops being the weak everyman, he's competent, he thinks, he acts before the plot moves him. Seven episodes of gorgeous backgrounds and character animation that still holds up because the OVA format meant every frame mattered. SYNOPSIS
Makoto stumbles upon an ancient stone monument hidden within his school, and when he awakens the mysterious woman sealed inside, reality shifts. He, his teacher Fujisawa, his rival Jinnai, and classmate Nanami find themselves stranded in El Hazard, a world of towering ruins and impossible magic. Each arrives in a different location, and each discovers they've been granted strange new abilities. While Makoto and Fujisawa rescue a princess from giant insects in the jungle, Jinnai lands directly in the bug kingdom and becomes its commanding general. He seizes the opportunity to hunt down Makoto, convinced this is his chance for supremacy. The stakes escalate when Jinnai learns of Ifurita, a legendary demon weapon with enough power to reshape the world. What begins as a desperate search across El Hazard becomes something far more complicated when Makoto realizes the woman he awakened and the demon he seeks might be the same person. Adventure collides with romance as competing factions race toward a weapon that could save or destroy everything.
