A 16-year-old orphan stumbles into a cheap apartment and finds it already occupied by ghosts, yokai, and spirits who've been living there far longer than he has. What could be horror becomes something quieter: a boy learning to share space with creatures nobody else can see, each one a small mystery that doesn't need solving, just understanding. The show moves at the speed of tea getting cold, of conversations that meander, of a lonely kid realizing his apartment is the first place that's ever felt crowded in a way that doesn't hurt.

Sixteen-year-old Yuushi Inaba lost his parents in his first year of middle school and has lived with relatives who looked after him but made him feel like a burden. He plans to move into a high school dormitory, but it burns down before he arrives. Short on money, he finds a room in an old building that seems too good to be true. Only after taking it does he learn it is a Monster House, where people share the halls with ghosts, yokai and mononoke. Another high schooler, Akine, lives there too, unbothered by the creatures and able to exorcise evil spirits. Mystery, slice of life and the supernatural mix as his school days grow far stranger than he expected.
