This is a film built entirely around a question the original series couldn't answer: what did Adroc Thurston's hands look like when they broke the world? The new animation that shows you, those Summer of Love sequences, justifies the entire experience. Everything else is recycled, the editing fractures the pacing, and casual viewers will be drowning instantly. But if you've lived with Eureka Seven, this film doesn't expand the lore so much as it rewrites what you thought sacrifice meant. Renton chooses the past over the present. The film never blinks at how brutal that decision is.

The film opens with the untold story of the world-shaking incident in which Renton's father vanished. With the enigmatic pilot Eureka at his side, Adroc Thurston alone could set right a mistake of his own making, and doing so set off the event that changed everything and made him a hero. Ten years later, Eureka is in critical condition and Renton walks away from the Gekko crew. Taken in by his father's old friends, he must decide whether to remain with the loving family he has always longed for or to go out and earn the love he is searching for. A mecha adventure with a strong dramatic core.
