This is a victory lap disguised as a training montage. The Devil Bats are loose, unguarded, actually having fun on an island while the series proper is somewhere else entirely. You get to watch Sena and Monta and Hiruma breathe without the weight of nationals hanging over them, which is exactly what you need if you've been locked in the tournament grind. The special exists purely to remind you why you fell in love with these characters in the first place. It costs nothing and gives everything back. Pure team chemistry, no stakes, just football players being idiots together.

The Devil Bats head to an island for a training session in this short one-episode special from the Eyeshield 21 franchise. Built around sports action with a comedic streak, the special gives fans a brief look at the team putting in work away from their usual surroundings.
