Nobody talks about this one. Kuri made a six-minute explosion of abstract shapes and deadpan human faces colliding into something that feels like watching fashion itself have a nervous breakdown, all set to music that knows exactly when to punch the joke. The whole thing moves like a fever dream designed by someone who understood that the funniest thing you can do with high fashion is show it exactly as absurd as it actually is. Watch it if you want to see where experimental animation went before anyone decided it had to be "deep", this is just a man with a pencil deciding to make fun of rich people for six perfect minutes. It's so small and so strange that it disappears from film history, then suddenly you realize you've never seen anything else quite like it.
Fashion is a short experimental animated film from 1960, made by the animation pioneer Yoji Kuri. Classed as a comedy, it runs as a single piece.
