The new Rin and Ikuya scene exists to answer a question you didn't know you were asking. Over 45 minutes of material actually expands what season 3 left hanging, not just prettifying it with new animation. This is a recap film that respects your time by refusing to be only a recap.

A theatrical film that retells the Free! Dive to the Future television series, reworking that season's events for a single feature. Alongside the recap footage, it adds new scenes, including a newly produced episode that did not air in the TV run. As with the rest of the franchise, it mixes sports and drama with comedy and slice-of-life moments, and it will suit viewers who want the season's story in one sitting.
