SYNOPSIS
New Port City, 2027. The scars of a devastating war still run fresh through the streets when a mysterious bombing strikes without warning. A military officer connected to illegal weapons trafficking turns up dead. Three separate investigations converge on the same question: who orchestrated these attacks? Daisuke Aramaki, a seasoned operative in the intelligence world, crosses paths with Motoko Kusanagi, a full-body cyborg and elite hacker operating in the shadows of military intelligence. Her skills are legendary, her methods ruthless. When Batou, a hardened agent whose cybernetic eyes miss nothing, begins tracking the bombing's origins, suspicion falls directly on her. But Kusanagi has her own agenda, and the military unit overseeing her movements keeps tighter reins than she'd like. As Togusa, a detective chasing parallel leads through the city's underworld, digs deeper into prostitution rings and corruption, the pieces don't quite fit together.
