The OVAs strip away the tournament pressure and let you watch these girls actually be friends, which is where the show's real heart lives. Tank battles matter less here than whether Miho will survive a swimsuit shopping trip with her crew. You get the Ankou Dance, the school ship tour, and the reconnaissance episode that explains what the main cast was actually doing while the camera wasn't looking, each one a perfect small story that knows exactly how long it needs to be. These aren't afterthoughts bundled onto discs. They're the show admitting that sometimes the best moments happen when nobody's shooting at anybody.

The Oorai tank crew steps away from competition and into everyday life in six short specials released with the Blu-ray and DVD editions. The girls go shopping for swimsuits, head out on a camping trip and perform the Ankou Dance, bringing their own Tankery flair to each task. Viewers also get a guided look around the Oorai school ship, the real story behind Yukari and Erwin's reconnaissance outing, and a talent contest between the teams. These light, slice-of-life episodes offer extra time with the cast between the tank action. Perfect for anyone who wanted more time with the crew after the main series.
