Sin spends the whole show trying to be normal in a world that won't let him. Sol shows up as the only person who actually gets why that's impossible. The animation budget cracks under the weight of eight episodes trying to rewrite the entire franchise's future, but the character moments, a drunk father-figure telling his kid he's proud of him, a girl learning her hatred was built on a lie, land because they matter to these people, not because the show earns narrative points.
