Two social outcasts decide the solution to having no friends is to start a club about having no friends, then immediately begin recruiting the exact people who would join such a thing. The setup lands because it's self-aware without being smug about it. The real hook is watching Kodaka and Yozora size each other up, both certain the other is faking their loneliness until they realize they're not.

Kodaka Hasegawa has just transferred schools and struggles to make friends, partly because his blond hair leads people to take him for a delinquent. When he stumbles on his prickly, solitary classmate Yozora chatting away with an imaginary friend, the two realize they are both friendless and decide to start a club for people like them: the Neighbours' Club. In this OVA episode, the club members plan an after-school hot pot. The idea is a pleasant meal among friends, but once every possible ingredient ends up in the pot, the result is something no one should have to eat, and the gathering turns into a fight to survive. Adapted from the light novels by Yomi Hirasaka, this comedy romance special came packaged with a special edition of the seventh volume.
