This one tests you in the first five minutes: either the premise of a lazy freshman getting recruited into water polo because grabbing is technically legal makes you laugh, or you're gone. Hamaji Youhei is the rare ecchi lead who isn't secretly gifted at anything. He can't study, can't play sports, quits everything, and the joke is that the pool is the first place his worst instinct becomes an actual skill. The three OVA episodes hop through the manga like someone tore pages out at random, which is why manga readers keep insisting the source is better, and they're right about the cast. But every so often the animation genuinely sits up and delivers a clean, well-drawn beat that reminds you somebody in that studio cared. Come for the gag, stay because Youhei sticking with something is a real arc.

Youhei Hamaji is a high school freshman who drifts through life without direction. He struggles with his studies, is hopeless at sports, never sticks with anything for long, and is a pervert who keeps getting turned down by girls.
