A boy living with five teacher-mothers suddenly has to contend with a girl who wants to join the family, except she's decided one specific mother is hers. The show doesn't pretend to be anything deeper than watching these ridiculous domestic situations unfold with genuine warmth underneath. What keeps it moving is that the chaos feels earned, everyone wants something from Mu-chan, and everyone's willing to fight stupidly hard for it, and somehow that becomes the whole point.
Chitose Hitotose already has an unusual home life: he lives with his five teachers, who serve as his mothers. Things get more crowded when a mysterious girl moves in next door and turns out to be Kuron Nagatsuki, who wants Mu-chan to become her mother. Her arrival sets off a fresh round of sibling rivalry over which of them will end up as Mu-chan's child. The 13-episode TV season mixes comedy, romance and slice-of-life moments. During its original broadcast, a special that first appeared on a DVD release of the earlier series also aired as the ninth episode, with the opening and ending updated to match this season.
