Mary Lennox is left an orphan after a cholera epidemic in India kills her parents, and she is sent to England to live with her uncle. He is a withdrawn man who hardly speaks to anyone, so Mary spends her days alone in his big mansion with no one to play with. Before long she befriends Dicon, a cheerful servant boy, and his older sister Martha. One day she comes across a secret garden near the house and hopes it can bring happiness to her new family, including her disabled cousin Collin. The story is a drama based on Frances Hodgson Burnett's 1911 novel The Secret Garden.
