Hinako's stammer isn't a problem the show rushes to fix, it's just part of how she moves through the world, and watching her slowly find her voice through theater feels earned because nothing else in the show is rushed either. There's no plot to chase, no crisis to resolve, just four girls in a bookstore theater club where the most important thing happening is someone learning they're allowed to take up space. This is the show you put on when you need to remember that growth can be quiet.
Hinako Sakuragi, a country girl who freezes up whenever she talks to new people, moves to Tokyo hoping theater will cure her shyness. She plans to join the well-known drama club at Fujiyama High School, only to learn it has been inactive for a long time. Her new home, Hitotose Manor, turns out to be a secondhand bookstore where Kuina, a girl who eats books, also lives. When landlady Chiaki sees how much Hinako wants to act, she suggests forming a troupe with the other residents, and a gentle slice-of-life comedy grows from there.
