Hiroto Ikuta is twenty-nine, single, working a part-time job in Asagaya with no plan for the future, and completely at peace with it. His breezy outlook is not easy for everyone around him to understand. His philosophy is simple: sometimes the best way forward is to slow down. When Hanae Wada, a gruff but kindhearted old woman he calls Granny, dies of a heart attack, Hiroto inherits her house along with some hard feelings. Three months later his eighteen-year-old cousin Natsumi, whom he has not seen in years, moves in to attend art school, bringing struggles of her own. Despite their clashing temperaments, the two share a roof and muddle through their ordinary days, in a gentle mix of comedy, drama and slice of life.
