The school's entire social hierarchy runs on boxing matches, and the show plays this completely straight while mining it for ridiculous comedy. Transfer student Takisawa walks in expecting normal school life and gets thrown directly into a tournament for a girl's affection, which would be overwrought in anyone else's hands but here it's just how things work. The chemistry between the two rivals and the absurdity of settling every single dispute with gloves on grounds the whole thing in a specific, lived-in comedy that 90s OVAs did better than anything now.

Takisawa Noboru transfers to Honjakuniku High one fall day, showing up an hour after classes begin because the principal told him to. The hall monitor, Jounouchi Kouichi, tries to punish him for being late, and Takisawa soon learns that at this school any argument can be decided through sports or combat. The lovely Yukari steps in to help him, but his troubles are only starting. Ibuki Saburo, the school tough, wants to pound the newcomer and keep Yukari away from any rivals, and he means to do both in the boxing ring. Takisawa ends up in a string of bouts with Ibuki for Yukari's love and respect. The two-episode OVA mixes action, comedy and sports.
