A kid running from the orphanage finds freedom on the river with someone society says he shouldn't trust. Every town they drift past has a con or a kindness waiting. The raft becomes the only place that feels honest, and the show knows that nothing good lasts once you reach shore.

Based on Mark Twain's novel, this 26-episode adventure drama centers on Huckleberry Finn, a cheerful orphan who runs away from his orphanage. Soon after his escape he joins up with a slave who has also fled. The two set off down the Mississippi River on a raft, and along the way they meet a wide variety of people and stumble into one adventure after another.
