The final race strips away everything you thought you knew about Takumi and forces him to drive against someone who has every advantage he built his legend on. It's not about winning anymore; it's about proving something to himself that he's spent four seasons learning without knowing it. Watch him realize, in real time, that dominance and growth are not the same thing.
Picking up right after Fifth Stage, Project D has beaten every racing team in the prefecture and faces one last match against Sidewinder, a street racing team from Kanagawa. Takumi Fujiwara, still unbeaten, draws an unexpected rival: Shinji Inui, a 17-year-old high schooler who started driving very young and knows the mountain pass well. Shinji also drives a Toyota AE86, the same model as Takumi's car. He shows little interest in racing at first, but watching Keisuke Takahashi's heated duel with Gou Houjou fires him up. Unbeaten on his home course, the Tsubaki Line, Shinji may be the toughest opponent Takumi has faced, and the final downhill race becomes a battle between two 86s.
