Shibuya broke Yuji in ways the show never fully heals. MAPPA knows this season lives or dies on animation, so they frontload the visual spectacle and save nothing for later, which means the first two episodes and finale absolutely justify watching even when the middle collapses under its own pacing. The Culling Game rules are a mess, the episode structure is confusing, but when the animation lands, it lands harder than most shonen will ever reach.
Yuji Itadori refuses to return to Jujutsu High after the horrors of Shibuya, choosing instead to hunt cursed spirits alongside an unlikely ally. His absence doesn't grant him peace. The Jujutsu world erupts into chaos when Noritoshi Kamo initiates the Culling Game, a sprawling supernatural battle that transforms ten regions of Japan into a deadly arena. Ancient sorcerers, awakened from centuries of slumber, clash against modern jujutsu users in a contest with stakes that threaten to reshape society itself. Yuji's reprieve ends abruptly when Jujutsu Headquarters revokes his suspended death sentence and dispatches the formidable Yuta Okkotsu to execute him. Caught between Sukuna's dangerous fascination, the kingdom of cursed spirits descending into bloodshed, and the old sorcerous powers reasserting dominance, Yuji must navigate a battlefield where every player fights for different reasons. The line between ally and enemy blurs as the Culling Game accelerates toward a future where jujutsu civilization itself hangs in the balance.
