The Demon Slayer cast gets locked in a high school setting and immediately stops being heroes. Tanjiro's earnest panic over homework, Nezuko's blank stare at normalcy, Inosuke's refusal to understand social hierarchy, it's exactly the kind of low-stakes comedy that works because you know who these people are when the weight is off. This is what fanservice should be: a room full of characters you love doing nothing important, voiced live by the people who built them, which means every awkward joke lands because the performers are actually there committing to the bit.

Three short comedy specials transplant the world of Kimetsu no Yaiba into a combined junior high and high school called Kimetsu Academy. They premiered at Kimetsu no Utage, a live event held in Tokyo on October 20, 2019, where the voice actors in attendance performed their lines on the spot. A version with freshly recorded dialogue later appeared on the DVD and Blu-ray of that event, released on August 26, 2020. The specials are connected to the short segments that aired after the credits of episodes 14 and 17 in the Kimetsu no Yaiba TV broadcast.
