A birthday party setup becomes the most beautiful funeral for a character who never stood a chance. Totsuka's death isn't shocking, it's inevitable, and the film knows it, which makes watching him genuinely happy in his final hours the cruelest thing the series has ever done. The animation reaches a level the original show never touched, turning each mundane moment of preparation into something you'll replay to punish yourself.

It is early December, and Anna Kushina's birthday is approaching. The members of HOMRA plan a surprise party for their little princess. Tatara Totsuka, the one clansman able to keep the destructive power of the Red King, Mikoto Souh, under control, wants to do something special and records a video for her birthday. Meanwhile, a new Colorless King puts his scheme into motion: he means to devour the other kings. The film is a supernatural action story set within the K franchise.
