Kanan still doesn't understand why she wants to be around Youji instead of devouring him, and that confusion is the entire show. She's a demon running on pure instinct, seduction, hunger, possession, and it keeps colliding with something that looks a lot like actual care, except she has no framework for what that means. The second season leans harder into that contradiction: Kanan gets bolder, weirder, more desperate to bridge the gap between what demons are supposed to do and what she actually wants to do, and Youji just keeps choosing her anyway, which breaks her brain every single time. The ecchi beats land because they're not the point; they're just Kanan's default language, and the real comedy is watching her realize that's not the same as love.
