Yuuko wakes up a demon and decides the most urgent problem in her life is affording pancakes. The magical girl she's supposed to fight becomes her best friend instead, and their whole dynamic is built on Yuuko being aggressively, unapologetically bad at being evil. It's a show that takes the magical girl genre, flips it sideways, and then refuses to let go of the joke because the joke is actually about two girls finding each other and deciding friendship matters more than a cosmic war that's been running since forever.

Yuuko Yoshida wakes up to find horns sprouting from her head and a tail swishing behind her. Her mother then shares a family secret: they descend from a Dark Clan, the bad guys in an ancient struggle with the Light, banished by magical girls to live powerless and poor. To win back some of that lost power, Yuuko has to defeat the local magical girl. Simple plan. Except Momo Chiyoda, the magical girl in question, is her classmate. She is also far stronger than Yuuko, genuinely nice, and keeps coming to her rescue, which leaves Yuuko embarrassed and conflicted. Momo even offers to train her. Then there is the matter of all-you-can-eat pancakes, a treat the family could finally afford. The result is a comedic slice-of-life fantasy that turns the magical girl formula around by casting the struggling demon as its heroine.
