A catastrophic reactor failure in 2031 upends life on Earth. The Quantum Reactor, built to replace the planet's shrinking fuel supplies, explodes and floods the world with an unknown energy, reshaping the environment overnight. Animals and machines evolve in strange new ways, giving rise to part-organic, part-mechanical beings called B.R.A.I. that push humanity toward extinction. People fight back using transforming machines known as M.O.E.V. units. Seven years later, Leon Lau, a scientist who was at the heart of the disaster, lives in the wilds beside Neo Shouryou, a heavily defended city that is one of the last human strongholds. Bound to the lively, meddling Chloe Lau by a family contract, the awkward Leon pursues his own research into ways of stopping the B.R.A.I. The pair try to get through each day without dwelling on the past, but danger keeps closing in. The result is a mecha science fiction series set in a world remade by catastrophe.
