Lupin finally meets an opponent who isn't just smarter but actually faster, and the show knows the only way out is to stop being clever and start being honest. Holmes doesn't want to arrest him, he wants to understand him, which is a trap Lupin's never faced before. By the time you realize this isn't a heist story anymore, it's a detective story hunting the man doing the hunting, and Lupin's running out of masks to hide behind.

Gentleman thief Lupin III is ready for another caper, but when Dr. Watson, longtime partner of the famed detective Sherlock Holmes, is murdered, Lupin becomes the prime suspect. With Holmes closing in, Lupin has to clear his name and bring down a shadowy group called The Raven if he wants to keep stealing. The Raven is an underground society said to control the British government from behind the scenes, and it has slipped through Lupin's fingers for close to a decade. Lupin takes his gang to Great Britain in search of the society's hidden treasure, but clues are hard to find with Interpol's Inspector Zenigata, MI6, Scotland Yard and Holmes all on his trail, and Holmes seems to have a personal score to settle with him. The result is a mix of action, adventure, comedy and mystery.
