Lupin walks into a inheritance that's really a map to something bigger, and the show spends ninety minutes proving that the real score was never the diamond. Fujiko's there to betray him, Lara's there to complicate it, and Morocco's tearing itself apart while Lupin tries to play hero and thief at the same time. The special knows exactly what it is: a perfectly paced heist wrapped around a dead mentor's final lesson, where the con isn't about the treasure.

A dying mentor, Don Dolune, leaves Lupin a parting gift: the diamond known as Twilight. The stone is only half of the treasure, and the missing half lies somewhere in Morocco. What should be a simple job gets complicated when Lupin finds the country caught in a civil revolt between two factions. After an assassin attacks him and he rescues a mysterious girl, it becomes clear the treasure hides more than it seems. Along the way Lupin has to handle Fujiko, his on-and-off partner, his attraction to the beautiful Lara, and Sadachiyo, a relentless maniac who fights with a whip. The special is a desert adventure with a comic streak.
