Lupin walks into a trap he knows is a trap, and the movie never blinks about how little that matters to him. The real heist isn't the treasure on the island. It's staying one step ahead of someone who's been studying your moves long enough to predict them. This is the Lupin that works: a man who steals not because he needs to, but because the game itself is the only thing that makes him feel alive.
Lupin and his crew receive an invitation to an island missing from every map, said to be home to the mastermind who commands the world's top mercenaries and links crimes around the globe. Hoping to unmask this figure and take his enormous fortune, the thieves fly toward the Bermuda Sea, with Inspector Zenigata close behind in his bid to arrest them. Snipers bring down their plane before they reach the island, and the group crash-lands in a fog-covered wasteland piled with rotting weapons, old tanks and nuclear missiles. Discarded human weapons wander the streets, the air carries a poison that kills within a day, and assassins from Lupin's past, supposedly dead, lie in wait. The island's ruler, Muom, aims to dominate the world through selection and elimination in the name of immortality. Up against a foe that guns and blades cannot kill, Lupin stakes his past and his pride as a thief on a battle of wits, racing to steal everything and escape alive before the clock runs out.
