Fire Bomber existed before Basara decided to weaponize it, and "On Stage" proves that matters. These three episodes refuse to be footnotes. Macross 7 already asks you to buy that music stops war. These OVAs ask you to buy that the people making the music matter more than the concept does.

Three episodes set during the Macross 7 TV series were never broadcast and were released as a video collection instead. In the first, the Macross 7 fleet runs into a rogue Meltrandi fleet commanded by Chlore, an ace pilot and longtime rival of Millia. The second looks back at Ray's days as a fighter pilot, his first meeting with Basara, and how the rock band Fire Bomber came together. In the last, Millia falls ill and becomes convinced her life is nearly over, blaming her micronization. She sets out to finish what she wants to accomplish, including arranging an engagement between Mylene and Basara. The collection mixes mecha action, comedy, drama and music.
