You watch a kid quit baseball because he couldn't be his father, then a transfer student drags him back into it for reasons that have nothing to do with legacy. The show doesn't pretend that's an easy fix or that baseball fixes anything. What it does is let two sixth-graders discover they're better together than apart, and that turns out to be the whole point.

Daigo grew up in the shadow of his father Goro, a professional baseball player whose Major League career looms large. Desperate to follow the same path, Daigo threw himself into youth baseball with the Mifune Dolphins, only to crumble under the weight of expectation. A failed experiment that lasted barely a year, he walked away from the sport entirely. Two years later, in sixth grade, a new student transfers into his class: Hikaru, whose father Sato is another former Major League player and Goro's longtime friend. When the Dolphins call looking for players for a game, Daigo's mother makes him go, and he finds Hikaru there. Hikaru has never played baseball, yet he takes to it right away, while Daigo still struggles. The two boys are complete opposites, and the tension between them pulls both into the game their fathers love, in a sports drama with a comedic streak.
