A kid born in the void has to save a mining colony when orbital mechanics turn into a disaster, no backup, no adults who see him as anything but labor. The 94 OVA aesthetic gives it weight: this is hard sci-fi with real stakes, not nostalgia pastiche. Ushiwaka survives because he knows the asteroid better than anyone alive, and the show trusts that knowledge matters more than being old enough to vote.
Twelve-year-old Nanbu Ushiwaka lives on Tortatis, an asteroid that Planet Catcher Corporation mines for resources to send back to Earth. He is the only child ever born in space who has survived. In the mid-21st century, during an operation to capture Halley's Comet, a military satellite sets off a disaster. Both their country and their company turn their backs on the colonists, leaving them stranded as the asteroid's nuclear reactor heads toward meltdown. Ushiwaka and his fellow colonists must find a way off Tortatis before it is too late. The result is a two-episode science fiction action adventure about survival on the space frontier.
