A lover returns as the enemy you've been ordered to kill. The show doesn't let you choose sides, it forces you to watch someone you care about break apart trying to. Haruie recognizes him across centuries and centuries dissolve in a single glance, but Takaya's command is iron, and neither of them can defy what they owe. The real devastation isn't the action, it's that love and duty have always been incompatible, and this show proves it in three episodes that feel like a wound.

Takaya is sent to Kyoto to look into the revival of the Ikko sect and Araki Murashige, a sect member who deserted his clan. Araki is searching for a 400-year-old mandala made from the hair of his dead clansmen. With help from his vassal Haruie, Takaya finally tracks him down, but when they meet, Haruie recognizes Araki as Shintarou, her lover in a past life. Takaya orders her to eliminate Araki as a threat, leaving her to decide whether she can carry it out. Meanwhile, Takaya at last meets Naoe. This three-episode OVA adapts the ninth volume of Kuwabara Mizuna's novels, following the 13-episode TV series that covered the first eight, and mixes action, drama and romance.
