These three movies compress Gundam Seed's melodrama into pure narrative muscle, cutting the filler that made the TV run drag. You get the raw collision of Kira's genetic engineering against Athrun's military loyalty without the repetition that killed momentum the first time. The romance between them still lands harder than it has any right to, the mobile suit combat still moves with weight and grace, the political despair still stings. This is the version that proves the story was always better than its extended form suggested. Watch this if you want Gundam Seed to actually be Gundam Seed.
The year is CE 70, and the Bloody Valentine tragedy has pushed the war between the Naturals of the Earth Alliance and the genetically enhanced Coordinators of PLANT to new heights. Kira Yamato, a Coordinator himself, lives on Heliopolis, a neutral colony. That changes when ZAFT launches a surprise attack on the colony. In the chaos, Kira stumbles onto the Earth Alliance's secret project: a set of powerful mobile suits he calls Gundam. To protect his Natural friends aboard the battleship Archangel, Kira ends up fighting against his own kind, and he must decide whether to keep going or leave the ship exposed to the four other Gundam that ZAFT has stolen. These three TV specials recap all 50 episodes of the original series, adding new scenes and reworking or re-dubbing some existing ones, while the overall story stays mostly the same. The result mixes mecha action and science fiction with romance.
