Moomin Valley doesn't build toward anything. It sits with you instead, letting small kindnesses and strange visitors and the particular way each character moves through the world do all the work. The music wraps around every quiet moment like it knows something comforting that the rest of TV forgot. Watch it when you need to remember that a day spent doing nothing with people you love is a day spent doing everything that matters.

Moomin and his family inhabit a secluded valley where the ordinary and the fantastical bleed into each other without warning. As spring comes, Snufkin returns from his winter wanderings and the valley's residents wake from their long sleep. Soon the Moomins come across a fine hat they can't bear to discard, and it turns out to have strange powers. Drawn from Tove Jansson's children's books, the show mixes gentle comedy, fantasy and everyday life in a series of adventures both magical and ordinary.
