The comedy doesn't build jokes from setups, it builds them from the fact that six identical brothers will never, ever learn. Every episode dismantles a different anime or manga trope by letting these unemployed degenerates live inside it for fifteen minutes, then abandoning them there. The show knows its own bit so well that the laugh comes from watching how inventively it can break the same premise over and over without the punchline getting old.

The Matsuno sextuplets return for a second season of the gag comedy based on Akatsuka Fujio's Osomatsu-kun manga. In the earlier season, the six brothers are unemployed adults in their 20s who still share the family home: Osomatsu leads them, Karamatsu poses as a tough guy, Choromatsu plays the straight man, Ichimatsu stays cynical, Jyushimatsu is cheerfully dim and Todomatsu is lovably spoiled. Their neighbors include Totoko, an idol from the fish market, the buck-toothed nuisance Iyami, a pint-sized rival named Chiba, the inventor Dekapan and Dayon with his enormous mouth. That season finds its comedy in everyday problems, like looking for work, splitting a bar tab and fighting over a spare pastry. Expect slice-of-life absurdity from a cast of grown men who still act like kids.
