Tonegawa is a man trying to execute an evil plan with middle management competence, and the show finds comedy gold in the gap between his intelligence and his powerlessness. His team is full of people who would rather sabotage him than help him. Yukio Tonegawa is an imposing, sharp-minded executive at the Teiai Group, one of Japan's biggest companies, where he serves as the right-hand man of Chairman Kazutaka Hyodo. When the bored chairman demands entertainment, Tonegawa is ordered to run the "Game of Death," a sinister scheme built around debtors. He pulls together his direct subordinates as Team Tonegawa, but the erratic chairman and disloyal staff throw one problem after another at him, and things eventually end in his demotion. Meetings turn into comedic disasters as the team struggles to keep the boss happy. A spinoff of Kaiji, the series is a psychological office comedy that finds humor in the daily headaches of a middle manager serving an unreasonable, villainous magnate, with appearances from other characters of the Kaiji world.
