A girl who sees floating islands nobody else can perceive meets a king from those islands, and the story never explains why she's special until it's too late to ask. Yumemi is an ordinary girl with one unusual trait: she can see the floating islands of the Heavens, a hidden world drifting above our own. Most humans remain completely oblivious to their existence. When Munto, the king of the Magical Kingdom, descends to the lower world following a prophetic vision, he seeks out Yumemi specifically. His world faces an energy crisis that threatens both realms. The Heavens themselves have turned against the Magical Kingdom, blaming it for draining their precious resources. Munto believes that meeting Yumemi can restore the dwindling power, but she writes him off as a figment of her imagination and worries more about a young friend who plans to run away with her troublemaking boyfriend. As Munto's presence lingers in her life, Yumemi begins questioning what responsibility she and others bear toward the world, while the Magical Kingdom edges closer to falling from the sky.
