The entire second half exists just to watch three people say what they actually mean to each other. Comedy gets stripped away because there's nothing funny about finally being honest. This is what growing up costs: the comfort of being misunderstood.

In the third season of the franchise, Yukino Yukinoshita resolves to become more independent and to settle things with her parents, which means first proving what she can do on her own. With graduation approaching for the third-years, student council president Iroha Isshiki asks the Service Club to help put on a graduation prom. Yukino takes on the request by her own choice, seeing it as a way to show her self-reliance, though the road ahead may be harder than she expects. As the club members work together on the event, Hachiman, Yukino and Yui have to find words for tangled feelings they have never easily expressed, and finally come to understand one another, all while it is unclear whether the Service Club will even survive. Meanwhile, Hachiman Hikigaya's high school days begin to wind down in this comedy drama with romance at its heart.
