Naruto gets starstruck and then immediately has to protect the object of his obsession on a real mission where she treats him like furniture. The movie doesn't pretend the contradiction is profound, it just lets the comedy live in that awkward space while actual danger closes in. By the end, the crush is real, the stakes are real, and a kid who wanted an autograph has to choose between being noticed and being needed.

Kakashi has Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura watch a movie before their next assignment, and Naruto turns out to be a big fan of its lead actress. Afterward the three run into her in person while she is being chased. They help her out, but when Naruto asks for an autograph she turns him down. Back with Kakashi, they learn their new job: escort that same actress, Yukie Fujikaze, and her film crew to the Land of Snow for a new shoot. The trip gets harder than planned because Yukie keeps refusing to go. Once the team reaches the filming location, ghostly figures try to frighten everyone off the set, and a run-in with ninjas from the Land of Snow shows Naruto that Yukie is hiding more than she lets on. The squad sets out to learn who wants the production stopped and why Yukie is really there. The film mixes ninja action and adventure with comedy, drama and supernatural elements.
