Yato ruins everything on purpose, and somehow that's exactly what makes these two episodes work. The OVA doesn't care about plot momentum, it burns time on Hiyori's high school entrance and a cherry blossom picnic that falls apart the second Yato shows up, and in that space you get the character moments the main series never has time for. Watch it between seasons one and two if you want to remember why you liked these people before the story gets serious again.
Hiyori Iki is ready to start high school with her two middle school friends, but the delivery god Yato has a different plan for her first day. When her spirit slips out of her body during class, Yato takes over her sleeping form, and her classmates watch her do one embarrassing thing after another. Can she still make a good first impression? In a separate story, Hiyori makes the most of a fine spring day by arranging a cherry blossom viewing with Yukine, Yato, Kofuku and Daikoku. She also invites the fearsome combat god Bishamon and her followers, hoping to bring gods and Shinki closer together. The calm does not last long once Yato and Bishamon, old rivals, start drinking together. Across its two episodes, the OVA mixes comedy and action with supernatural mischief.
