Luffy stumbling into a town he has no business being in, getting mistaken for the wrong pirate, then sitting down to eat and swap dreams with a stranger is peak early One Piece energy. The show works because it remembers that the adventure starts before the plot does. A kid with rubber limbs and an empty stomach is funnier and more compelling than any villain setup ever could be.
Luffy and the Straw Hat crew hit a snag on their journey toward the Grand Line: their food has run out. Luffy goes looking for something to eat by himself, finds a ship owned by a pirate named Gary, and seizes it before landing at a nearby town. There a young girl named Silk attacks him, thinking he belongs to a rival pirate band. Once that is sorted out, the two share a meal and tell each other their stories. Meanwhile, Gary and his crew are furious with Luffy and start demanding payment from the town's helpless residents. This single-episode special mixes action, comedy and fantasy.
