The banter between Melody and Kuromi gets sharper now that they've stopped pretending they're anything but a married couple. Kuru Kuru Shuffle strips away the plot scaffolding and just lets two characters who hate each other's guts protect dreams together, episode after episode, finding new ways to be insufferable in each other's presence. If you watched the first season for the repetition and the rhythm, this one leans harder into what actually mattered: two rivals who have become each other's entire world, whether they admit it or not.

A continuation of Onegai My Melody, this 52-episode magical girl comedy picks up after peace has returned to the world. My Melody is back in Mary Land, but she feels lonely every day because she misses Uta. Kuromi is supposed to be confined to a punishment room writing an essay of repentance for her misdeeds, yet she steals a magical item and slips out. The king orders My Melody to put a stop to her troublemaking once again. Hiiragi, who fell under the nightmare's spell and plunged the world into crisis, is ordered to assist My Melody in the guise of a mysterious man of justice.
