Orphen gets hired to fix other people's problems while secretly obsessed with saving someone nobody else cares about. That split between his sharp-tongued mercenary act and what actually drives him makes every arc feel like it matters, even when he's cracking jokes with trolls or bluffing his way through a fight. Six years of guilt doesn't announce itself, it just lives under every decision he makes.

Six years ago, a disastrous accident at the Tower of Fang, a school of magic, turned the magic user Azali into a great dragon after she lost control of the enchanted sword Baltanders. The young magician Krilancelo, who cared deeply for her, is disgusted when the Tower's elders would rather bury the incident than save her. He renounces his old name, calls himself Orphen, and leaves his studies behind to roam the world in search of a way to make Azali human again. The story mixes action, adventure and comedy in a fantasy setting.
