Anime Like Photon: The Idiot Adventures
A genuinely stupid boy stumbles into a war he doesn't understand and solves it by being too kind to let anyone die. The show treats him like an idiot and then proves he's right, that gentleness in a mecha anime is its own superpower. Every character Photon meets wants to use him, and he just keeps writing "baka" on their foreheads until they become his friends instead.
SYNOPSIS
Photon Earth is a sweet-natured guy cursed with godlike strength and a forehead permanently marked with the word "idiot" courtesy of his chaotic best friend Aun Freya. His simple life gets upended when he carelessly scribbles the same insult on the forehead of Keyne Acqua, a gorgeous fugitive pilot, and somehow finds himself engaged to her as a result. What should be a comedy of errors becomes genuinely complicated when they're hunted by Papacharino, a ruthless villain after the mysterious "Aho" energy stored within Keyne's grandfather's ship. Photon has to figure out how to be useful despite not understanding anything about the situation, protect two people who constantly drive each other crazy, and stop a threat he can barely comprehend. The series bounces between genuine action beats and ridiculous comedy, never quite deciding if it wants to be serious about its conflicts. It's episodic chaos wrapped around a soft-hearted protagonist who somehow keeps everyone alive through sheer dumb luck and overwhelming physical power.
