You're watching a world where tiny creatures build civilizations in a backyard, and the whole thing moves at the speed of wonder instead of panic. Miyamoto strips away the survival-game tension and just lets you sit with these creatures solving problems together, no stakes except whether they make it home. It's a children's story that trusts its audience to find meaning in small things: a Pikmin learning to be brave, a captain understanding his crew isn't following orders, it's choosing to stay. The animation is patient enough to let you notice the fur on each creature, the way light hits a drop of water. PIKMIN Short Movies is a set of three brief 3D animated stories drawn from Nintendo's Pikmin video game series. Shigeru Miyamoto, the Japanese game designer behind the project, made the shorts as a way to present the Pikmin characters in a manner his games could not. Released as an online collection in 2014, it is a light fantasy piece in short form.
